A few weeks ago, at the Goldschmidt Conference in Prague, Ferdinand J. Hampl of Montanuniversität Leoben presented novel findings on magnesite from the Hochfilzen mining district, as part of the MultiMiner project. His presentation, delivered during the session “New advances in metallogenesis from magmatic-hydrothermal to basinal environments and their applications to exploration and metal recovery”, highlighted how state-of-the-art mineralogical techniques are transforming our understanding of magnesite deposits in the Eastern Alps.
